The biggest striding man statue in Africa is coming soon to the Douala grand mall in Cameroon. The statue is being erected by Alpha and jam in partnership with OMD and Diageo. The statue is the biggest in the whole of Africa with a height of 6.5 metres. The striding man is said to be one of the most iconic drink-related logos in the world. The logo was created for Jhonnie walker in the year 1908 by a cartoonist Tom Browne after a competition was held by the brand. The striding man we see today has been a staple for the brand since the beginning of the 20th century when the team at Johnnie Walker decided they wanted to add a personality and playful edge to the regal whisky. In the late 90s, however, the good ol’ striding man returned. And today, he stands tall with a sophistication and a regalness that ushered him into the 21st century and will continue moving this brand towards the future.
